Beth Blake Beth Blake's Work, "Listening," is the mural displayed on the side of Starlight Cafe, Greenville, NC. The garden serves as a surrogate to talk about diversity. The garden is messy, overgrown, and wonderful. It is populated by spiders, toads, snakes, and lots of rabbits. When the garden was started, the soil was depleted and the land empty, making it an unbearable place. The garden now showcases the great efforts to rebuild the soil, to enable plant growth and provide sustenance and safety for a range of insects, birds, and amphibians. The garden is like any community; when diversity is supported, lives flourish. |
